Change the lyrics

This is a good activity you can do with your students. I am going to explain how I have done it in my class.

I wanted to use a song to work on the First Conditional Structure. I decided to use Westlife's 'If I let you go'.

• First I entered Lyrics Training and we heard the song filling in the blanks. (I prepared the song, which is pending review).
• The second step was writing the Chorus on the whiteboard. In this song the Chorus contained the First Conditional Structure. I then rubbed out some parts of the Chorus and told the students to change the lyrics with their ideas.
• An optional last step was preparing a Powerpoint presentation with their new lyrics accompanied by pictures which would show the ideas expressed on their new lyrics.
