Running Dictation

Write a short text.
Version A:
Put copies of the text at the front of the class. Make sure the students cannot read it from where they are sitting. In pairs, one student runs up to the text, runs and remembers as much as they can, runs back and dictates it to their partner. Their partner writes the text. The students can change ways half way through. The first pair to finish the text shouts 'Stop'. All students stop writing. Then they change texts and correct them. Each group starts with 50 points but loses a point for each error in spelling, punctuation or missing word.

Version B:
Play the game outdoors. Have one student of each group far from the other members of the group with a copy of the text. Students race one by one to the place where the student with the text is. He dictates the text to the person who will race back and dictate it to the person in the group who copies it. The first group to finish the text shouts 'Stop'. All students stop writing. Then they change texts and correct them. Each group starts with 50 points but loses a point for each error in spelling, punctuation or missing word.
