Sentence Pictionary

Draw a picture on the board to represent a sentence using a target structure you want to practise. E.g. Mickey Mouse is playing football’. Draw blanks on the board to indicate to the children the number of words in the sentence and their approximate length

e.g. ‘_____ / _____ / __ / ______ / ______’

The children say the words they think are in the sentence and each time they get a word right, you write it up. Once children have got the hang of the activity they can play it in pairs or small groups, using sentences you have prepared for them. You can follow the same procedure using mime to illustrate the sentences instead of Pictionary.
